Dose 1: Sedation occurs with a slight decrease in muscle tone, ability to stand is preserved.
Dose 2: Sedation occurs with muscle relaxation and some analgesia, animals usually stand up, but sometimes hospitalization may occur.
Dose 3: decrease in muscle tone and degree of analgesia is more pronounced, deep sedation occurs. Animals lie down.
Dose 4: Very intense sedation, decreased muscle tone and analgesia. Animals lie down.
HORSE:
It is administered by slow intravenous route. Slow intravenous administration should last for 1 - 2 min.
Sedation: It is used at a dose of 0.6-1.0 mg/kg body weight (0.6-1 ml product for 100 kg). Depending on the dose, it provides mild to strong sedation and animal to animal analgesia and muscle relaxation. Animals usually remain standing. In general, effects are seen 10-15 minutes after intramuscular administration and 5 minutes after intravenous administration. A sleep-like state, the depth of which is dose-dependent, usually lasts for 1-2 hours, while analgesia lasts for 15-30 minutes. It can be used as a preanesthetic for barbiturate anesthesia or in combination with regional anesthetics. When used as a pre-anesthetic, the dose of barbiturates should be reduced by a quarter or half a dose. Nervous or excitable horses may need higher doses. Low dose rates should be used in elderly or severely physically active animals.
