COMPOSITION
Teknomycin LA 300 Injectable Solution is yellow to amber colored, sterile solution. Each ml contains oxytetracycline dihydrate equivalent to 300 mg of oxytetracycline.
INDICATIONS FOR USE
In cattle, sheep and goats in the treatment of infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to oxytetracycline;
- Respiratory system infections,
- Urogenital system infections,
- Soft tissue infections,
- Infectious keratoconjunctivitis (pink eye),
- Enzootic abortion in sheep
ADMINISTRATION ROUTES AND AMOUNTS
Teknomycin LA 300 Injectable Solution is used in cattle, sheep and goats. It is formulated long acting and its antibacterial activity is long term. Unless advised otherwise by the veterinarian, it is administered at a standard dose of 20 mg/kg every 3-4 days with a deep intramuscular (IM) route or at a high dose of 30 mg/kg every 5 - 6 days.
Cattle, sheep and goats: Standard dose is 20 mg/kg (1 ml / 15 kg), high dose is 30 mg/kg (1 ml / 10 kg).
It should not be injected at the same place of one region of the animal more than 10 ml in cattle and more than 5 ml in sheep and goats. Be cautious of asepsis and antisepsis during use. It should never be administered intravenously.
Oxytetracycline does not completely eliminate Chlamydia infection in the herd.
WITHDRAWAL PERIOD(S)
Cattle, sheep and goats should not be slaughtered during the treatment and for 28 days following the last treatment at 20 mg/kg dose and for 35 days following the last treatment at 30 mg/kg dose. Cattle, sheep and goats milk should not be used for human consumption during the treatment and for 12 days (24 milking) following the last treatment at 20 mg/kg dose and for 14 days (28 milking) following the last treatment at 30 mg/kg dose. Due to long withdrawal period in milk, it’s not recommended to administer to cow, sheep and goats producing milk for human consumption.
