COMPOSITION
Teknoclox Eye Ointment is a homogeneous white - cream colored ointment and each 5 g syringe contains 1065 mg cloxacillin benzathine equivalent to 835 mg cloxacillin.
INDICATIONS FOR USE
Teknoclox Eye Ointment is used for the treatment of ocular infections in cattle, sheep, horses, dogs and cats where susceptible organisms, such as Staphylococcus aureus (including beta-lactamase producing strains), Moraxella bovis and Branhamella ovis, are suspected or anticipated as pathogens.
A specific indication is its use in the treatment of pink eye, (New forest disease, infectious keratoconjunctivitis) in cattle
ADMINISTRATION ROUTES AND AMOUNTS
For topical application only. Evert the lower eyelid and instil the ointment liberally into the lower conjunctival sac. Normally, a single application is sufficient, but if necessary, treatment can be repeated after 48-72 hours.
Cattle and horses: Approximately 5-10 cm strip ointment for one eye,
Sheep: Approximately 5 cm strip ointment for one eye
Dogs and cats: Approximately 2 cm strip ointment for one eye
For treatment of Pink eye in cattle and contagious ophthalmia in sheep one application only is normally required, but treatment may be repeated at intervals of 48 hours in cattle and 72 hours in sheep if necessary. For animals with only a single infected eye it is recommended, to prevent cross infection, that both eyes be treated, treating the uninfected eye first to avoid transferring the infection.
The syringe is for single use only. The tip of the syringe must be kept free from contamination once opened. Partially used syringes should be discarded.
WITHDRAWAL PERIOD(S)
During the treatment period and following the last drug administration, the withdrawal period for meat and milk is 0 (zero) days.
