COMPOSITION
Doxycure 10% Oral Solution is a clear, yellow to brown solution, and each ml contains doxycycline hyclate equivalent to 100 mg of doxycycline base compounded with 4 mg sodium formaldehyde sulfoxylate as preservative.
INDICATIONS FOR USE
Treatment of colibacillosis, chronic respiratory disease (CRD) and mycoplasmosis caused by micro-organisms susceptible to doxycycline.
ADMINISTRATION ROUTES AND AMOUNTS
To be administered in drinking water.
Chicken: 11.5 - 23 mg mg doxycycline hyclate/kg body weight/day, corresponding to 0.1 - 0.2 ml Doxycure 10%/kg live weight/day, for 3 to 5 consecutive days.
For the administration through the drinking water, the practical dose of the product can be calculated according to the following formula:
0. 1 – 0.2 ml Doxycure %10/kg body weight/day x Mean body weight (kg) of animals to be treated
= .... mg [Doxycure %10] per l drinking water
Mean daily water consumption (l) per animal
To ensure a correct dosage body weight should be determined as accurately as possible. The uptake of medicated water is dependant on the clinical conditions of the animals. In order to obtain the correct dosage, the concentration in drinking water may have to be adjusted. The use of suitably calibrated weighing equipment is recommended. The daily amount is to be added to the drinking water such that all medication will be consumed in 24 hours. Medicated drinking water should be freshly prepared every 24 hours. It is recommended to prepare a concentrated pre-solution approximately 100 grams product per litre drinking water and to dilute this further to therapeutic concentrations if required.
It should be ensured that all animals intended to be treated have easy access to medicated water supplies. Irrigation equipment should be adequately cleaned after treatment to prevent the sub-therapeutic intake of the product. During the treatment, medicated water should be the only source of water for the animals. Medicated water should not be prepared or stored in a metal container, rusted equipment should not be used in these processes. The solubility of the product is pH-dependent and can precipitate if mixed in high alkaline drinking water.
WITHDRAWAL PERIOD(S)
DRUG RESIDUE PURIFICATION TIME (D.R.P.T): Chickens should not be slaughtered for human consumption during the treatment and for 7 days following the last treatment. Not authorized for use in laying birds producing eggs for human consumption. Do not use within 4 weeks of onset of the laying period.
